It's a terrible day for a drive in east central Alberta.
The snow storm that started last night continues to rage and it's affected traffic all around the area.
The Hanna RCMP have been responding to numerous incidents, including two semi-trailers stuck on Highway 36 just north of the Shearness Power Station. A second stoppage occurs about 20 kilometres south of the Shearness Plant. Traffic is blocked in both directions.
To the west, a head-on collision between a semi-trailer and a passenger car tied up traffic just west of the Rosebud turnoff on Highway 9. Police believe the car crossed the road and hit the truck, which was hauling construction equipment. Both vehicles wound up in the south ditch.
In the south, whiteout conditions have prompted the RCMP to close the Trans-Canada between Calgary and Bassano.
Conditions are not expected to improve until later this afternoon.
