Environment Canada warned about "truck toppling winds" on Tuesday afternoon, but they didn't say anything about trains!
High winds are believed to be the cause of a derailment north of Three Hills. Tammy called 99.5 Drum FM to report it.
"A train, a really big train, derailed just north of Trochu. They've got the police and the fire, ambulance and CN are all out there: they've got three secondary highways blocked off."
"You can clearly see where the train is on the rails, off the rails, back on the rails and then off the rails again, so it looks like it's tipped over in two separate spots," she added. "I'm guessing it's because of this wind."
A statement from Three Hills RCMP says about 25 cars carrying shipping containers left the tracks. There were no hazardous materials involved and no reported injuries.
"I just stopped in Three Hills for gas and CN is all over the place, ambulance crews, emergency crews," concluded Tammy.
A second derailment occured yesterday near Wainwright, when five cars left the tracks at a trestle bridge and plunged over the embankment. Again, no injuries were reported.
