Drumheller residents stepped up to the plate on Tuesday, April 18, as our community donated blood for yet another successful donor clinic.

"We're really grateful to the community of Drumheller for their great support (because) we collected 100 units of blood. Our target was 120 units, so we came in a little bit short, but we achieved 83 per cent of our collection target," stated Lisa Castro, Territory Manager for Canadian Blood Services.

Castro explained that those who donated will be touching the lives of 100 patients within a week of donating blood.

When you donate blood, you're giving the gift of life and anyone can be involved in donating.

"We encourage people to book an appointment, download our Give Blood app, or visit our website at blood.ca. Our next clinic in town is going to be on July 18 and the clinic will run from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m.. We are hoping for another 120 units of blood," Castro outlined.

The Canadian Blood Services is in need of new donors as it's critical to meeting Canada's future blood needs.

"We're definitely looking for A's, O's and B's, but every blood type is critical and everyone can help to give back," concluded Castro.
