The region's newest school finally opens for business today.
Wheatland Crossing is located at the intersection of Highwys 840 and 561 a few kilometres south of Standard.
The school replaces existing schools in Standard, Hussar, Rockyford and Gleichen. It was supposed to open last September, but construction delays -- many of them weather related -- pushed things back to now.
A directive from the Golden Hills School Division head office says students will start today at Standard School, where they have gone to school this year, then move to the new school a class at a time.
The grand opening ceremony for Wheatland Crossing School won't be held until the new school year starts in September.
