The Drumheller Habitat for Humanity is the lucky recipient of a donation from the local Western Financial Group.

The Drumheller Branch of Western Financial Group has been behind the scenes of a lot of projects in the Valley through their Western Communities Foundation.

"For our 2017 infrastructure grant of $5000.00, our Drumheller Western Financial Group office staff was able to vote towards what they would like that money to go to," advised Western Financial Office Manager Roxanne Clark.

The Western Communities Foundation is a charity that was set up to give back to the communities that the employees live and work in. The Foundation supports a variety of charitable programs focused on public health, public housing, education and recreation. Since the Foundation has been in effect it has donated $2.7 million to the communities where there are Western Financial branches located.

"We have done a lot of local giving in the last several years and the Communities Foundation has been in effect since 2002," explained Clark.

The Drumheller branch, specifically, has donated to organizations such as the Badlands Community Facility, the Drumheller Legion, the Drumheller and Area Health Foundation, the Drumheller Memorial Arena, and even to local students through bursaries.

"This year we were trying to decide what could we do that would have a an impact on the community and we felt that the Habitat for Humanity home that they are building is a really great way to use those funds," beamed Clark.

Their generosity doesn't stop with just the money. The staff at Western Financial have even offered to help build the house when the time comes.
