On Friday, February 22, the Drumheller RCMP were busy once again with a call of a stolen vehicle from Acme spotted in Drumheller.

Vehicle thefts have been in the forefront for Drumheller RCMP lately in and around the Drumheller area.

Corporal Rachel Pergunas said, "We got a call from somebody who basically called and said, my vehicle was stolen last night in Acme and I just saw it in Drumheller."

Officers responded immediately to the call and headed to Newcastle where the vehicle was spotted.

"We sent some officers out. They were down by the Newcastle area and they were able to get eyes on this vehicle that had ducked into a back alley to try and hide from them and when they made attempts to stop, they did attempt to flee from them, but because of their positioning and some deep snow we were able to get him pinned in and arrested," explained Pergunas.

The quick response by the Drumheller RCMP resulted in a safe apprehension.

"Mr. Darcy Ewing has been arrested and charged," stated Pergunas, "He did go before a J.P. and was remanded into custody and will be appearing March 8th, here in Drumheller (in court)."
