RCMP will be at the Drumheller Cemetery this weekend looking for clues into the latest case of vandalism there.

Someone apparently drove over grave markers in the south west corner of the cemetery. Eric Buckley noticed it on his morning walk.

"It's atrocious, really, I just cannot believe that somebody would actually take a vehicle down here and drive over these markers like that. It shows a lot of disrespect."

"I walk down here probably once or twice a day, kind of looking after the cemetery as eyes and ears, ensuring that people aren't disrespecting the markers and that no vandalism is going on," he explained. "If (I see) anything, I'll report it to the police."

It appeared a vehicle left the road and drove through the gravesites. It was not immediately evident whether they had actually knocked over any headstones, but there were tire tracks where graves apepared to be.

"People drive through these cemeteries and they should have a lot of respect for the dead," stated Buckley. "What I see here today is just unbelieveable, that somebody would actually take the time to drive right over these markers like that."

The police investigation continues. If you saw anything you're asked to called the Drumheller RCMP at 403-823-7590 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
