Vance Neudorf, the Executive Director for the Canadian Badlands Passion Play Society and the Badlands Amphitheatre receives the Cindy Amos Tourism Champion Award.

Neudorf is happy to receive this award, and is grateful to be recognized, but credits the group effort of his staff and volunteers from the Valley.

"This is the Cindy Amos Award from the Canadian Badlands Tourism. Two years ago in 2017, the Badlands Amphitheatre won the Organization Award for the work we've been doing in the Concert Series," said Neudorf. "It's the individual award for the tourism champion of the Canadian Badlands region. However, you don't pull off that without incredible staff and the volunteers in Drumheller. It's basically a group effort."

This award also celebrates Cindy Amos and her accomplishments through the celebration of those leaders who exemplify exceptional qualities and values.

"I think it's a really cool thing to see recognition. It's the people, right? Look at all the things we're pulling off. We are making two concerts this year. All these major events that we're now holding and it's the people of Drumheller that keep coming out, supporting us, volunteering, making it all happen. This is a cooperative effort," explained Neudorf.

The recipient of this Award must meet many requirements. A few of these requirements must consist of a strong vision, and the drive to make those visions a reality. The initiative to begin difficult journeys and the ability to temper creativity and innovation with practical realities, to create something with lasting impact, to only name a few on the extensive list.

"Two years ago, actually, my staff wrote a piece about me and sent it in. I looked at it afterwards and thought, wow, I sound more impressive than I think I am. It was very nice of them to submit that for me, so that same submission was still there, and so this year we won that one."

Cindy Amos' vision for Canadian Badlands Tourism was to preserve rural values, western culture, and strengthen the economies of the region through sustainable tourism development and investment attraction. Neudorf and his team have done just that.
