The Town of Drumheller has updated its fire ban and it's not good news for anyone who likes to sit around a campfire.

Extremely dry conditions had already led the town to ban all burning, including charcoal fired barbecues, within town limits. However, fires in approved pits in designated campgrounds and recreation areas were still allowed. That is no longer the case.

Effective immediately, any open flames or solid fuel cooking appliances are off limits until further notice.

The latest advisory says there is an extreme fire risk in the Drumheller Valley and people should be extremely careful.
