Alberta Transportation will be doing quite a bit of work in Drumheller this summer.

"The overlay of the truck route, that's been needed for a number of years now," explained Mayor Terry Yemen. "Just as you're heading out of town into the industrial area there is a culvert that needs to be replaced."

"Timing is going to be a little critical," said Yemen. "They do want to wait later in the year until most of the tourism season is completed; we do have the Passion Play late in August."

"There may be some detours that have to be put in if they are going to start work there," added Yemen. "They are cognizant of the dates of the Passion Play so they are going to try to work around it."

The highway overlay and culvert work are in addition to a promised turnout for tourists at the bottom of the South Hill.

Yemen added that it would be ideal to have the capital projects finished by the end of the year.
