Two Drumheller men are facing Criminal Code charges following an attempted theft on a rural property.

Last week, two adult males were caught in the act of breaking into a sea can by the property owner in Kneehill County.  The men, 22 year old David Douglas Deslauriers and 19 year old Tyree Lee Ewing, both from Drumheller, departed the scene of the crime on foot and were located a short time later by a neighbour.

The event took place around 6:00 a.m. on May 10, with the two men leaving the truck they were using and the stolen tools at the scene of the crime.

Beiseker RCMP were contacted and arrived on scene taking the two into custody without incident.

Deslauriers was remanded into custody where he will appear in Drumheller Provincial Court on May 18, 2018. Ewing was released on bail and is due in Airdrie Court May 31, 2018.

Both men were charged with break & enter and possession of break-in instruments, with an added breach of probation for Ewing.

Beiseker RCMP want to remind the public to report suspicious persons and vehicles to police and to dial 9-1-1 immediately for crimes in progress.
