It was almost five years ago that a Drumheller restaurant was featured on the Food Network TV show You Gotta Eat Here.
On Monday, July 10 we learned that host John Catucci has not forgotten Bernie and the Boys Bistro and even included it in his new book You Gotta Go Here.
In fact, it was the first restaurant mentioned by Catucci as he appeared on the Global Television Morning Show in Toronto.
"He's been to so many places across Canada and for us to come out of his mouth first was just a super honour," responded restaurant owner Bernie Germain. "I told my mom and she started crying and then I cried and then we all cried and were so happy; it was quite an emotional thing."
The popular TV show visited the Drumheller Valley in November 2012 and the segment first aired in April 2013.
"It was an incredible boost, it was something that we weren't prepared for at all and sure threw a learning curve our way for what we had to do to make everything work," recalled Germain.
While he's flattered to have been mentioned again, Germain is just as happy for what it can do to bring more visitors to Drumheller.
"The tourism in Drumheller is also incredible: it brings these people in, they stay a night or two, which is really terrific, and we can only hold so many people so it trickles out to everybody else and we're just absolutely thrilled to be a part of that," he told 99.5 Drum FM.
