Many have seen the new Travel Drumheller ads rolling around the Internet and on the TV, but do you know why?
"It's Drumheller week on CTV Calgary Morning Show. We have basically taken over the morning shows, so all the segments are in Drumheller and it's all about staycations," stated Alyssa Berry, Executive Director for Travel Drumheller.
Regional tourism and making 48 hour Drumheller itineraries is the main focus for Travel Drumheller.
"We are focusing on the north, like the Edmonton region, because they stay. Calgary can be a day trip, but we are encouraging people to make 48 hour itineraries which we focused on our website a little bit," Berry explained.
"Obviously we encourage people to stay, which is what we're focusing on from our marketing perspectives, but we're not going to turn away all those day trip Calgarians that come out either."
Berry noted that Travel Drumheller has been focusing on those shoulder season. They've been advertising outside of Drumheller since May, so they want to capture the May and June traffic, ease off in the summer and then start back up at the end of the tourist season.
"We're really focusing on those shoulder seasons, especially from a room night perspective and getting people in hotels outside of that July and August time. That's partly why this is all happening now and why we're in market with Calgary and have the promotion with CTV; to encourage people to come out before it gets super busy after Canada Day," concluded Berry.
