It's almost Christmas and that means you should probably start gift shopping if you haven't already.

"A lot of people don't realize how important it is to shop local and there is lots of really nice and unique gifts that different stores have in this area for sale," explained Shelley Rymal, Chamber of Commerce President. "Don't forget to visit some of the local farmers markets, there is many of them throughout the town and just about every weekend until Christmas."

"When you support local businesses, you help create jobs in your community," noted Marley Henneigh, Director of Chamber Services at the Chamber of Commerce. "Those business owners are the same people that support our local sports teams, donate to the animal shelter, and support lots of community groups so it's important to support the businesses in that aspect as well."

"Everyone knows that we are very busy in the summer and it's kind of a crunch in the winter time, so spend your money locally and then the stores will be open for your convenience next year," added Rymal.

During the holiday season it's common for most to do their shopping in the city, but this year valley residents are being encouraged to shop locally.
