With one day left, the Hanna community is rallying together for the official kickoff to the Christmas season.

Light Up Hanna will fill the streets on Friday, December 2 with a parade starting at 6:00 p.m.

"The Hanna Food Bank came to us earlier this year asking if we could help with their Christmas Food Drive," stated Becky Viste with the Hanna Learning Centre. "We actually came up with the idea of having people walk the parade route and collect the non-perishables along the route for their food drive."

Viste mentioned that the Hanna Learning Centre's volunteers have coined the term 'Elf Brigade' for collecting the non-perishable food items.

"We're encouraging people to bring non-perishables to watch the parade. Our volunteers will actually walk the parade route with decorated wagons and will be picking up the non-perishables along the parade route," Viste explained.

So, where will the parade be around Hanna?

"The parade route, I think, is actually on the Hanna Chamber of Commerce's Facebook page. That's actually who runs the Light Up Parade and the initiative we're running is just the Food Bank during the parade," outlined Viste.

After the parade there will be photos with Santa, a shopping spree draw and more.
