Alberta Transportation and ATCO will be making some upgrades on our highways.

New street lighting will be added from 17th Street West to the east entrance of Hunter Drive in Nacmine.

"A concern was brought forward on the extent of lighting between the Passion Play Site heading west to Nacmine. 28 new light standards will be installed later this fall to improve the safety level of lighting in that area," stated Paul Salvatore, Director of Community Services for the Town of Drumheller.

The new lighting will make the road safer to travel during the night and will be an addition to tourists coming to town, just by saying that they are close to enter the Town of Drumheller.

"There's a bit of a twist in the road there that some people might not catch very easily, so this will illuminate that section and make it more safe," Salvatore noted.

So, when will the new lights be added?

"ATCO is going to be working on that here starting in the fall. We don't have a precise date, but we do know it will be happening sometime late September I would think," concluded Salvatore.
