The Drumheller Rotary Club has brought forward its finalists for the 2018 Celebration of Excellence Awards.

The nominees for Citizen of the Year are Gary Toft and Graham Giffin. Giffin is also a member of the Rotary Club.

"It happens once and a while and it's bound to," said Selection Committee Chair, Tracy Kakuk. "That's what rotary is about. It's the volunteering, so we are bound to have some great volunteers within our own group."

The Most Courteous Employee Award nominees are Linda Dolen from Greentree Dental and Pricilla Beriko a charge nurse in acute care at the Drumheller Health Centre.

"This year we have our charge nurse and I think that sometimes it gets ignored that our nurses are actually courteous employees," explained Kakuk. "They're employees, too, that deal with a lot of people in the community."

The last couple of nominees are locked in as the recipients of this years 2018 Male and Female Athletes of the Year.

"Eden Hilchey is our female finalist. She's very involved in volleyball and basketball," concluded Kakuk. "Chase Sattler, he is very involved in football and baskeball."

The awards will be presented to the winners on June 15, 2018 by the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and Town of Drumheller.
