Car dealerships throughout Drumheller are seeing an overall positive in car sales from year-to-year.

A huge driver included in our local economy is the local vehicle retail market but how are sales in this industry doing?

From preliminary impressions, vehicle sales have been holding steady if not doing better over last year.

"We've been doing pretty good because we're really customer focused," explained Manager of Western GM, Brad LeDrew.  "For that reason, we've had a lot of out of town people from bigger city centres come to us."

LeDrew also says that General Motors does set higher goals for the company to reach year after year and can comment that Western GM has seen growth because of constantly changing goals.

"Over the past year, Drumheller Chrysler has seen vehicle sales start to reach a more steady level of sales activity where we can help determine what's coming in the future and the months to come," revealed Drumheller Chrysler Manager, Ryan Tessier. "Where the previous years, there has been a lot more inconsistency."

Tessier believes that engaging with our local community is one aspect that keeps his business relevant. He also backs up the claim that out-of-town buyers also help reach their annual goals.

"Our sales, if anything, have increased in the last three years," mentioned Manager of Sunrise Auto Sales, John Schinnour. "But, we're not recession-proof. We do offer a product that everyone can afford."

Schinnour goes onto say that the sales at his business haven't been hurt at all within a growing market of new vehicles and gas price increases.

"It's on an upward trend. It's not moving at a tremendous pace but it's going the right direction," said Manager of Westergard Ford, Steven O'Dwyer. He further commented that he's optimistic that oil field work will increase in the future around our area, pushing sales further and attributes the loyalty of his agriculture consumers for picking his business before others.

Overall, the sense of stability within the trans-motor sector of our economy is progressing in the right direction and moving towards providing our local economy with it's continued professionalism and dedication.
