On May 15 the Drumheller Public Library board held its Annual General Meeting.
"We had three guests attend, went over our year end report, our audited financial statements and our Marigold Annual Report," explained Chair Vanessa Page. "Then we had questions from guests and elected our vice-chair."
"We re-elected Denise Lines as our vice-chair," said Page. "She's been on the board for a year and half now and she was elected last May as our vice-chair. This year we re-elected her for another one year term."
The financial report for the 2017-18 year of the library fell short on memberships, but this is because memberships at the library are free this year as part of Canada 150 celebrations.
Page said that the Drumheller Library Society donated $10,000 so that the library would be able to give free library cards from July 1, 2017 to June 30th 2018.
"Finances at the library are always looking good," she added. "We have wonderful financial management. Our director is fantastic with the budget. We're a very conservative operation."
Currently, the library is passing out surveys to community members to get input on what changes or improvements the people want from their library. Every three years the library executes a Plan of Service and 2018 is the last year for the current plan. They will take the survey information and develop a new plan for 2019-2022.
