Buying or selling a home can be a momentous event in your life and you want to make sure everything is up to code.
Investing into a home inspection can save you thousands of dollars in unexpected costs.
Jason Chow, a home inspector in the Drumheller area, said, "A home inspection does offer a really great piece of mind for the small fee that you do pay. A lot of information is provided. I recommend that all my clients attend their home inspection, this way if they have any questions, I can answer them and show them if any improvements need to be made."
A home inspection, in relation to buying a new home, does not cost a large amount of money. A general rule is that the charge is roughly $100 per hour.
Imagine not paying an estimated cost of $400 to $500, and 2 years later, an unexpected bill worth thousands, is now your main priority. This problem could have been isolated, if a home inspection was done.
Chow further commented, "It's a very small price to pay for a home inspection considering the purchase price of the house. It gives you a good idea about the houses' condition."
Maybe you can save some money if you do a home inspection yourself? Unfortunately not.
Chow explained, "In Alberta all home inspectors need to be licensed through the government of Alberta. We are all insured and bonded. We go through rigorous training and certification in order to achieve this licence."
Home inspections are important and allow you to be more informed about the home and it's current condition becasue it is an important investment.
