Drumheller has a unique buying opportunity for potential home owners.
With mixed national and provincial headines stating that the buyers market is not a place for new home owners, Don Rosgen with Century 21 in Drumheller said the local market is, in fact, a buyers market.
"Right now, we're in the buyers market. Normally we have(an amount of listings) in the 110 to 120 range. Total now, we have over 150," he continued. "It's a supply and demand situation. The supply exceeds the demand right now. I think that's where we are in Drumheller."
Rosgen stated that anyone who is looking to purchase in the area of Drumheller is in a good position because of the selection of houses in our market.
"Normally, in the higher price range, there's only one or two(properties) to look at. So we're pretty restricted here but not now," explained Rosgen. "There's several choices and I think that's a good opportunity to buy a property."
The houses in the valley and surrounding area that are selling fast, according to Rosgen, are the houses that are ready for sale and the ones that have been taken care of and in great condition.
"When you have excess market product. you're then going to have to reduce your price if you want to get ahead in the market." concluded Rosgen.
Compared to markets such as Toronto, Edmonton or Vancouver; Drumheller's buyers market is, as Rosgen informed, a market with some real opportunity to buy.
