It's a chance for students, families and fellow teachers to celebrate the importance of educators as well as a chance to have some fun.
"We actually like to refer to it as Staff Appreciation Week. It's not just the teachers, it's the educational assistants, the support staff, the bus drivers," pointed out Tina Hodgson, President of the Greentree Parent Council. "(It's) Everyone that we appreciate during the course of the week."
Students get inspired to show creative ways they appreciate their teachers as well.
"We decorate all of the teachers doors, including the main office door." Hodgson explained, "We pick a theme and this years theme is Star Wars. All the doors are decorated with the teachers' names saying 'YODA best!'."
During this week, the parent council prepares a dinner for teachers during parent/teacher interviews.
"They really go out of their way for each and every one of us, so we really appreciate what they do for us." praised principal of Greentree School, Erin Campbell-Bentley.
If you can, take a moment out of your day to thank a member of our educational system.
