The Town of Drumheller's e-billing system has been up for some time now and it's almost at the deadline.
"It was slow to start with, but we've seem to have more people sign up recently which is great news. The e-bill really got people excited, so we had quite a few more people sign up in October," stated Julia Fielding, Economic Development and Communications Officer with the town.
Since we're coming to an end with 2016, the Town of Drumheller decided to have a big blow out to get more people interested.
"This time we have partnered up with the Quality Inn and if people sign up to receive their utility bills by e-bill in the month of December, they will be put in the prize draw," explained Fielding. "The winning prize for the draw is a night at one of the suites in the Quality Inn. You also get a meal and movie tickets, so it's like a little staycation in Drumheller."
Since bills are posted on paper and that costs money, the town can save some of that money for more important causes. It's all thanks to residents switching to the e-bill.
"We don't have to pay postal, we don't have to have people stuff envelopes and it's much more efficient. It's also environmentally friendly (since) we're not printing off pages of paper," Fielding said.
The e-bill draw takes place throughout December and the last day to sign up is January 1, 2017.
"You go to the e-bill page on the website and you can sign up (through) the form there. On the 2, maybe the 3, of January we will do the prize draw and pull a name out of a hat," added Fielding.
