On Thursday, August 31 Western Financial Group in Drumheller held a barbeque to raise money for the breakfast programs at St. Anthony's and Greentree schools.

Lisa Hansen-Zacharuk, Account Executive at Western Financial, explained the importance of breakfast programs.

"I know with my own daughter going to Greentree, the amount of children that access that program every morning is phenomenal."

The barbeque was a success.

"Presently, we raised $268 but, we're going to leverage that and apply for a grant with our Western Communities Foundation to try and double that. So, that's the plan, and hopefully we're successful in that because then it would be over $500 so we could give $250 to each school," said Hansen-Zakaruk.

Hansen-Zacharuk also spoke about Krayonz for Kidz, a program where Western Financial collects school supplies to help teachers and students in the community.

"So far, when it comes to school supplies, we're doing pretty good. It was actually a pretty healthy amount and I think there's still more coming."

Hansen-Zacharuk wanted to thank the community for their support.
