The newly appointed United Conservative party in Alberta has been receiving support left, right and centre, and yesterday (August 3) Jason Kenney earned the support of our local MLA.
Drumheller-Stettler MLA Rick Strankman has endorsed Jason Kenney as the new leader for the United Conservative party.
"It's to the economic development of the province that I feel Jason has a full handle. I mentioned during my statement about his background with the CTF and using an example of forcing through a third party organization," stated Strankman.
So, what does it mean to you to have the support of Alberta MLA's?
"It means a great deal, especially coming from Rick Strankman because he is one of the veterans of the former Wildrose caucus, our new United Conservative caucus. He is one of the true freedom fighters in Alberta, having fought for grain marketing freedom and a man of true principle in conviction. I'm deeply honoured to have his support," outlined Kenney.
Kenney noted that his message to the people is very simple; they've worked for a year to get the conservative movement reunited and they did.
"I'd like to offer that as evidence of proven leadership, but also experience. When we take over from the NDP in two years we're going to hit the ground running. At that time, being Premier will not be an entry level job," Kenney expressed.
"We're going to be inheriting a fiscal disaster, the need to restart our economy, restore investor confidence, cut taxes, balance the budget, modernize our services, repeal the damaging NDP legislation like Bill 6 against our farmers or the Carbon Tax. That's going to take experienced leadership, I'd like to offer 10 years as a senior minister in the National Government as well as leadership in the Canadian Tax Payers Federation as relevant leaders for that job."
