RCMP Staff Sergeant Kevin Charles has some bittersweet news for the Town of Drumheller.

He is being temporarily reassigned to the Southern Alberta District Management Team as an Advisory Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO).

Charles will be stationed at the Airdrie RCMP detachment starting August 7.

"I will be overseeing seven detachments. I will be the liaison between the senior management and the seven detachments in the southern Alberta district including Drumheller, Hanna, Three Hills, Oyen, Didsbury and Strathmore." explained Charles.

Charles, who has been in Drumheller for eight years now, is excited about the new opportunity.

"There is retirements in the district and there is a gap for the District Advisory position, so the District Officer asked if I would step in, in interim, and fill in," outlined Charles.

The temporary status is currently indefinite.

"I mean, it is bittersweet because I love Drumheller and the job I have here," concluded Charles.

Corporal Gerald Sherk will be the Acting Detachment Commander for Drumheller while Charles is away.
