Their student enrolment is less than 425, but St. Anthony's School in Drumheller is one of the top fundraisers every year in Alberta for the annual Terry Fox School Run.
"We recently were contacted by the Terry Fox Run Foundation letting us know that we are the 13th highest fundraising school out of 1,400 schools in all of Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut," reported Gavin Makse, Director of Athletics at the school on North Dinosaur Trail.
The news came just in time for the 37th anniversary of the day that Terry dipped his articial leg in the Atlantic Ocean off Newfoundland to begin his cross country run to fight cancer.
"As part of Canada's 150 celebration, the Terry Fox Run Foundation is encouraging students to go onto their website, share a few words about what Terry means to them and then they can be entered in a random draw to win one of 150 Terry Fox T-shirts," noted Makse.
"I'd have to say this is one of the greatest things that our staff, our students, our parents and our whole school community does for living our school motto, 'Making the world a better place to be'," he concluded.
This year's Terry Fox School Run is scheduled for Thursday, September 28.
