It's one of the biggest annual events the Badlands Community Facility hosts each year. The Drumheller Sports, Recreation and Arts Expo takes over the fieldhouse from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. this Wednesday, September 13.

Amber Leavitt has been involved in planning the Expo since the last one ended.

"It starts, like, months out: it's not something that's just a couple of weeks, and there's a lot of people you have to contact, a lot of hands in the pot too," she told 99.5 Drum FM. "It takes up more than just the program department: we've got the marketing officer in on it, our manager, our front end staff, everybody in the Facility helps out with it."

"We have a running list of people who have participated in Expos in the past few years," Leavitt explained. "We contact every single one of them by email usually, and if we don't hear back from them we start making cold calls to make sure they got our email, so they can save the date."

This year's Expo will have close to 40 exhibitors offering all kinds of things for kids, adults and entire families to do to keep busy over the fall and winter. If a group you were expecting to see isn't there, Leavitt says it's probably because they're full and not taking any more registrations.

"It's a lot of fun to put this event on and it's a lot of fun to be a part of it every year," she concluded. "During the Expo, the 4:00 to 7:00, being there for me, there's a lot of energy and everything and it's lots of fun to be a part of."
