A favourite cooling off spot in the summer is finally open for the season.
"The outside fountain opened yesterday afternoon, the spray park opened yesterday afternoon and of course the outdoor pool was open at the beginning of last week," stated Judy Quintin-Arvidson, Town of Drumheller's Community Services Coordinator.
"Everything's up and running. The tourists are starting to flock to it already. We ordered some nice weather for the weekend to top it off."
The Rotary Fountain is considered now to be a wading pool, a shallow artificial pool for children to play in.
"There are tests that need to be done on that water by Alberta Health Services. They have to give us the go ahead, so until it's given the clean bill of health we can't use it at all," Quintin-Arvidson explained.
"We have had a lot of work done and paid particular attention that the rules have changed on those types of wading pools. We wanted to make sure that everything was done properly the first time so it will last a long time and be credited by Alberta Health Services," she concluded.
