With the warmer weather many people are wondering how to shed some pounds before swimsuit season.

Alberta Health Services is hosting a number of free workshops at the Drumheller Hospital this spring and summer, the first of them on weight loss and nutrition.

"The program is called 'The truth: What works in weight management' and it is a two and a half hour workshop that will be taught by the registered dietician here at the hospital," reported  Erica Laycock, a chronic condition client health educator at the Drumheller Health Centre.

"People will be able to evauate what they're eating and learn some strategies to help lower their calorie intake as well as explore meal patterns, food choices and portion sizes that do affect our caloric intake," she elaborated.

The free weight management clinic is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18 at the hospital.

"We're going to be offering these the third Tuesday of every month until October," outlined Laycock. "(There's) a different topic each month, 5:30 to 8:00 (p.m.) here at the hospital."
