Seniors Week in Drumheller kicked off in grand style at the Pioneer Trail Drop-in Centre this morning as the Centre and the Town of Drumheller put on a pancake breakfast for area seniors.

A couple of them needed the calories so they could take their new scooters out for a spin.

Penny Kushko rides a three wheeled scooter that she powers by shifting her weight from side to side. Who talked her into it?

"My grandson," she replied. And how did she react when he suggested she ride a scooter? "Let's go!"

Isn't she worried she could fall and break a bone?

"Sure, but if it's going to happen it's going to happen one way or the other, so you might as well have fun doing it."

"Why should the kids have all the fun?," asked Margaret Dame, who rides a more traditional two wheel scooter. "Just because we're senior citizens doesn't mean a thing."

Following their complimentary breakfast, the pair rolled off to parts unknown leaving nothing but smiles in their wake.
