The Legion Branch #22 shows their thanks in a way that could help send scouts to different provinces.
The 1st Drumheller Scouts were given a cheque yesterday by the Drumheller Legion in the amount of $200.
"The scouts really help us out during our meat draw and Fish and Chip nights, and stuff like that," said Legion President Burt Cote. "We're a proud sponsor of the scouts. So the idea was that through the Rotary Club, the money they earned through them, was given to us. In turn, we gave it to the scouts as a donation to their cause."
Cote says having the scouts volunteer their time is admirable and very helpful to say the lease.
"It feels pretty good. Us scouts are getting more money to do better things," said 1st Drumheller Troop Leader Duncan Ewing.
The Legion Branch #22 provides the scouts with $500 a year, an investment Bert Cote says, is worth every penny.
"This $200 is just an added bonus for them," said Cote. "This might help to send them to Yellow Knife again."
Troop Leader Ewing hopes this money can go a long way in terms of sending the scouts to other provinces like British Columbia.
