It was a little scary, perhaps, but students and staff at Drumheller Valley Secondary School were never in any danger.
That assurance from Drumheller RCMP Staff Sergeant Kevin Charles in regard to a reported threat against the school.
"Police investigated the allegations of the threats to the school and determined they were completely false; there was no threat, no danger at any time to any of the students or staff," he told 99.5 Drum FM.
Social media blew up late Sunday after a student allegedly made threats against the school during an online chat room discussion.
"We have no evidence that a threat was actually made: it was discussions last week amongst a group of kids that somehow spiralled over the weekend and became what was spread around this morning," stated Charles.
"We encourage people, if you ever hear of any threats or any criminal offense, call the local RCMP or Crimestoppers as opposed to putting it up on social media," recommended Charles. "Let us do our job quicker."
