Monday, May 15 was a grand day for the students who transferred to the new Wheatland Crossing School.

"The move was very smooth, the staff and administration did a great job on coordinating everything. We had everything moved over from the schools, Monday was orientation day for students, Tuesday was the first day in classes, a few more days to get used to things and then it was off for the long weekend," stated Bevan Daverne, Superintendent for Golden Hills School Division.

Daverne mentioned that there is a lot more room in the building for the students and staff.

"There's a lot more flex space for the kids, the ceilings are a lot higher in areas of the school, the gym is much bigger, the playground is pretty substantial and are finishing up some boarders and landscaping for the playground this week," he noted.

"They love the additional space they have, the really like the way the space is laid out, there's a lot more light in the school, areas for kids to hang out during breaks and a large area for kids to have lunch."

So, anything left to complete?

"We do have a little bit of landscaping left in the field area. That's really about it. There's very small things inside the school that will need to be tweaked and that work will happen during the summer when school is out," concluded Daverne.
