August 30, 2017 will go down as a banner day in the history of the Salvation Army in Drumheller.
They have just completed purchasing the old ATCO Electric office on South Dinosaur Trail, across from the 99.5 Drum FM Studios.
"We're going to be doing a three in one ministry there," stated Captain Jennifer Hillier. "We'll have the Thrift Store as well as our family and community services, including our Food Bank, and our church ministry as well so we'll all be under one roof in that location."
"It's been a long time of looking for something that is appropriate, that is accessible, that we can really take and customize and design spaces to be best used for our programs," noted Hillier. "Some of the programs we're running are not being run out of spaces that really work for them."
Once the new building has been renovated to suit their needs, Hillier allows they will have to move out of the buildings they currently occupy.
"The Thrift Store space, currently we're leasing that space," she told 99.5 Drum FM. "The property that houses the church and the Food Bank, we'll be looking to sell that property at some point in the future."
