Some visitors to the Drumheller Valley are feeling lucky to have escaped with their lives after their motorhome burst into flames last night.
Fire Chief Bruce Wade says they got the call around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
"A young couple had just pulled into the site and it started on fire, so he pulled it out of the site into the open, which was a great effort," he related. "We responded with a pump from Drum, one pump from Rosedale and our tank truck and about ten firefighters and had it out quite quickly."
"There was no injuries, but the motorhome was a total loss," he continued. "I think it's probably just a mechanical problem in the fridge area of the motorhome."
The campers were put up for the night in one of the cabins at the 11 Bridges Campground at Rosedale, but will have to call their holiday short.
Wade says it's a shame their vacation was ruined, but he's happy no-one was hurt. The unnamed couple were travelling out of Calgary with a baby and a large dog.
