The community of Rockyford is preparing for a special anniversary this summer.
The Rockyford Rodeo returns for it's 60th year this summer and it holds a special meaning for Rockyford's mayor.
"My Grandfather was one of the original founders of the Rockyford Rodeo. He was the first arena director and my Dad became, after a period of time, arena director and he actually participated in the first rodeo as a contestant," recalled Darcy Burke.
He adds they will be bringing back many of the former arena directors and organizers for the event. They will be part of the parade through the village and will be speaking at the opening ceremonies for the rodeo.
"After 60 years it should be recognized for what it's contributed to our community," noted Burke.
This year's rodeo runs July 28 to 30.
