The Drumheller Aquaplex has some good news sliding our way.
The repair work to the pool has been completed as the contractor has finished pouring the concrete slurry under the damaged drain and the drain has been repaired.
"We had a fiberglass expert come in and did those repairs," Julia Fielding spoke about the drain pipe. "We are letting that all dry and the idea is over the weekend pool staff will go in and clean the entire pool. Then we are going to put some water into the pool."
"The idea is that we are going to see and make sure that no more water leaks out."
One of the drain structures at the deep end of the pool had a wide split on the side, which water was leaking through. It was found that the crack had been caused by the drain slumping due to a loss of support underneath.
"We are looking at the week of the 10th for it to be reopening so hopefully at the beginning of that week," Fielding said.
After filling the pool, samples of the water will be sent off to get the proper testing done, ensuring that the water is safe to be in.
