Valley youth have the opportunity to kayak alongside their peers this spring.

Red Deer River Adventures has decided to start a youth kayaking club.

"We're going to be mirroring the club that we started last fall," said Eric Neuman with Red Deer River Adventures. "It's basically going to be four weeks of paddling so once a week for a couple of hours in the evening or maybe an afternoon depending on whether or they want a week day or a weekend."

Drumheller teens 14-18 are eligible to join.

"We also want to work with the schools to start creating some programs out on the river and what better way to start then to get some teen clubs going," explained Neuman.

For those that do not have their own equipment the cost of the program is $180, while the cost is $90 for those that do have their own equipment.

"Other than the fact that we are wanting to do club I know teens will always be interested but some teens might feel more comfortable if it is just with their peers," added Neuman.

He added that although they started April 1 last year they are aiming to get the club underway in the beginning of May.
