It's generally the busiest weekend of the entire year in Drumheller as thousands of tourists descend on the valley to enjoy the August long.
With the extra traffic, Drumheller RCMP will be on their guard to make sure there's no trouble.
"The long weekend will be another busy weekend for the valley and its residents," noted Staff Sergeant Kevin Charles, who heads up the detachment. "We'll have lots of increased traffic with tourism. Be welcoming to these tourists and please be patient when you're travelling the roads."
"We're watching for any kind of aggressive driving behaviours, any dangerous driving," outlined Charles. "If you have a cell phone to your ear in your hand that's dangerous because you're not paying attention to the road."
The Royal Tyrrell Museum reports the August long weekend is their busiest of the summer with upwards of 5,000 people per day expected to visit. Staff sergeant Charles says that means the rest of us will have to be on our guard.
"You can't predict a collision, make sure you slow down, drive safe and by all means, as everyone knows, don't drink and drive."
