The AJHL and RBC presented cheques to two local organizations yesterday.
The Drumheller RBC branch, in conjunction with the AJHL and Community Ambassador Markus Boguslavsky, presented two organizations with cheques on November 27, 2019, valued at $1000 each.
The Festival of Lights committee and The Salvation Army were both recipients of these cheques.
"We're putting it towards to the Festival of Lights that just ran," explained Chair for The Festival of Lights, Carol Todor. "If there is any left for next year, it will be a good kick off to get going for other things in mind to add to the success of the festival."
Todor commented that the expense for the festival is upwards of $10,000 and that the $1000 donation does help put a dent in the expenses of it all.
"It's extremely important to give back to the community that supports us so much," said Markus Boguslavsky from the Drumheller Dragons who was also chosen to be Drumheller's Community Ambassador. "So I think it's great what we're doing here."
During the Festival of Lights, Boguslavsky and a handful of other Dragons played street hockey with the youth of Drumheller. This was a decision made by Boguslavsky as being the Community Ambassador as he gets to choose which organizations received the donations.
"It will go into our Christmas fund which will go to help people in the community that need some help this Christmas," explained Captain Isobel Lippers from the Drumheller Salvation Army.
Lippers commented that it's nice to see people in the community supporting each other and giving back and as she sees it, everyone is working towards one goal of helping others.
