Enumerators will start going door to door around the province this Saturday, September 8 to collect information on eligible voters.
"We have an election period, it's sometime between March 1 and May 31, but it actually takes a lot of time to process data on two million households, so that's why we start so early," explained Pamela Renwick of Elections Alberta.
"We're just looking for information on those that are eligible electors," maintained Renwick. "We look for their mailing address and their home address, if those are different, their name, their birth date, gender and a telephone number."
New this year is the pre-registration of 16 and 17 year olds from eligible families. They will be registered and then automatically added to the voters list on their 18th birthday.
The door to door enumeration runs until September 30, but Renwick said they will take late registrations.
"We will run our call centre and our online until October 5 just to kind of provide a little bit more time for people to respond to the 'We Missed You' cards," she told Drum FM. "We'll also have running our Voter Link website, which is year round, where people can update their information; or you can always phone our main line, 1-877-422-VOTE (8683) and someone will still take the information and get you on a list."
