It's still up in the air on what the future plans are for Delia School.

A planned renovation of the school did not receive approval from the Government of Alberta.

"There is a lot of pieces like trailers that were put together to form the school and there is lots of issues underneath the ground like the basement getting water in it, so I think it is time for it to go," said Delia CAO, Mark Nikota.

He added that they will potentially be building an entirely new school.

"I don't think it's a matter of if it is going to happen, it's when," explained Nikota. "From the village perspective we are really keen on it because it is defintely a center of the community that we need to remain viable so we're looking forward to it."

"I know one of the biggest things we are looking at is how we can partner as a community with the school division to do it," he added. "So it's more than the just the school, it does house our library, we are looking at different gym options and those types of things. We want to have more than one use for the building and that makes it more practical."
