This weekend, Drumhellions need to get their fix in at Aquaplex as the indoor pool will be shut down for renovations.

"The pool shuts down on normal business, 4:30 p.m. on Sunday and then we're actually going to start draining it early on Monday morning (May 1). The contractor starts to move in on Monday and people probably won't see stuff happen outside for a day or two, but we will be seeing some activity starting this week coming up," explained Darryl Drohomerski, the town's Director of Infrastructure Services.

"We know at the end of the day the product is going to be worth the inconvenience to our customers. It's going to be a great looking show piece for the town, so overall we're going to see a lot of gain out of it."

The goal is to have the outdoor pool open for May long weekend.

"The weather looks, well I guess in Alberta you wait five minutes and it will change, but the idea would be to move everything open so we're open for the long weekend in May," Drohomerski added.

The construction will take approximately five months to complete.

"A lot of planning and forethoughts have gone into making sure we have a seamless transition for our customers, our staff and the public that utilize that area. We're trying to minimize the interruption."
