As October rolls on, we get further and further away from summer, yet closer and closer to swim season.
The scheduled re-opening date for the indoor pool at the Drumheller Aquaplex is November 1.
CAO Darryl Drohomerski is following the progress of the work closely.
"They're getting ready to put the liner in on the shallow side of the pool, all the concrete's poured, lights are going up, so I think this week we'll start to see a big transition into sort of the finished product," he told 99.5 Drum FM.
Work began last May to demolish the old indoor pool and hot tub and replace them with a gradual entry pool suitable for toddlers and young children. Drohomerski hasn't been the only one keeping tabs on it.
"The views on Facebook when they update the photos every week have been very popular," he noted. "More and more people that I talk to are excited about getting in that pool and going swimming, most of which are the contractors. They're all excited about trying out the pool just to test it before they turn it over to the public."
"They all want to be finished this and actually see the finished product," he added. "I think some of them were in the same boat the public were in a few months ago, where they weren't sure what it was going to look like as they got closer. Now, they're all quite excited to be able to see the finished product and their contribution towards it."
