Golden Prairie Parent Link Centre aims to provide families in the Drumheller and surrounding area with resources to help enrich family units, no matter their personal situations.
The Golden Prairie Parent Link Centre, which is a non-for-profit organization, has a fairly large area of service as 10 communities fall under the helpful gaze of family coaches throughout Drumheller, Hanna, Three Hills and more.
On August 23, Parent Link held a meet and greet in the Freson Brothers parking lot to encourage families to enjoy the free food, activities and vehicle rides supported by emergency services like the RCMP and the Drumheller Fire and Rescue as well as companies like Newcastle Towing.
"Everything is free," explains Parent Educator and Family Coach for Parent Link, Margaret Manley. "Any programming I do in the evenings involves free childcare and some of our programs involve a meal."
The meet and greet were fairly busy as families ate hot dogs provided by Freson Bros. Played with spray chalk and climbed into large vehicles like The Drumheller Fire and Rescue fire truck. There was also sign up forms for families to enrol in programs that Parent Link provides.
"We've got doctors. We've got everybody of every income," explained Manley as she spoke about the types of families the non-for-profit deals with. "There's no cutoff. There is no such thing as a bad parent."
"The parents that maybe know more than the younger parents, they help each other out. We don't specifically target one group. This is for everybody."
