One of the most unique tourist attractions in Southern Alberta is almost ready to open its doors to the public.
Trekcetera will be taking over the old glass shop beside UAP-NAPA, across from Boston Pizza on Highway 9 South.
Although it's a great location, there might not be enough space for what the owners would have liked to see.
"We've decided that we're actually going to have a seasonal display that we're going to change probably every year, so that way we can circulate displays. If we don't have more space to expand into, then that's the only way we can do it," stated owner Devan Daniels.
Daniels expressed to 99.5 Drum FM that Drumhellians and tourists can expect to see a very professional looking museum with over 300 costumes, props and set pieces on display from a variety of iconic movies and TV shows.
"Most recently we acquired a 32 piece collection from Hell on Wheels, which actually has its own room and we're very proud of that. We also have a stage set up at the back with photo op's. We have two different kinds that people can purchase if they wish. This is only stage one and we do have a stage two, or phase two, coming and we're going to be offering more things for the public," Daniels outlined. "We've also acquired a few pieces from the most recent movie Magnificent 7 that just came out. People like the idea that we have Chris Pratt and Denzel Washington coming."
So, when could we expect to see an open sign?
"We honestly don't know just yet. We're in the final stage of renovations and then we have to set up all the displays. We don't want to announce a day and then change it, so we're going to wait until we can be 99.9 per cent sure that the day we announce will be the day that we open," Daniels noted. "We're shooting for probably the very end of March, beginning of April. As soon as we are confident on the opening date we will announce it."
