"We attended a residence in Nacmine to execute an outstanding arrest warrant, and while we were there, we located stolen property and enough information to get a search warrant for the garage, where we located a significant amount of stolen property," related Corporal Gerald Sherk of the Drumheller detachment.
Arrested was 27 year old Alvin Lee Sieppert of Nacmine, who is facing 29 new charges in relation to the search and has been remanded into custody to appear in Drumheller Provincial Court this Friday, September 14.
"At the time of the arrest, Sieppert was on four separate judicial interim release documents for 27 similar charges associated to six previous possession of stolen property incidents," added Cpl. Sherk. "The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges may be pending on associated persons."
With their primary suspect in custody, the focus now shifts to getting the stolen property back to its rightful owners.
"If they have serial numbers and it was reported stolen to us with the serial number, we'll be able to track back to the owners based on that," noted Sherk. "We did find a large amount of cell phones that appered to be stolen: hopefully we can find out who the service provider was and then be able to contact the owner."
