UPDATE: 11:00 AM | November 15th, 2018

The Drumheller RCMP have released details about the incident earlier this morning.

A pick up was travelling eastbound on Highway 576 near Range Road 184 and left the road.

Roads were icy at the time. Three males were in the vehicle at the time of the collision, the driver of the truck was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. One 60-year-old passenger was transported to Calgary via STARS with serious life-threatening injuries.

The other male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision will remain under investigation.

Caution is advised for anyone travelling outside of Drumheller this morning.

Emergency crews are at the scene of a single vehicle crash on Highway 576, the Verdant Valley Road, a couple of miles east of the Michichi turnoff.

Details are still sketchy, but we understand there are two victims and that the STARS air ambulance has been called to the scene.

Reports from first responders say roads in the area are slippery with freezing rain from last night, and there is patchy fog as well.
