It's back to school this week for all strudents in the public and catholic school divisions in East Central Alberta.

Christ the Redeemer Catholic and the Prairieland Public Division actually went back last week and kids in the Golden Hills Public Division joined them today.

"We've had quite a few registrations over the last ten days or so," reported Erin Campbell-Bentley, the Principal at Greentree Elementary School. "We're hoping numbers are going to be similar to last year and (things are) looking very optimistic at this point."

There are a couple of new facilities for the children at Greentree School. Everyone knows about the full access playground that went up over the summer, but Campbell-Bentley is equally proud of the new reading area just inside the stairwell beside the front doors.

"Mr. and Mrs. Noy came in and did all our building and we had Mrs. Noy and Miss Neefe come in and paint it all up for us," she told 99.5 Drum FM. "We're putting in a book nook. It's just an opportunity to add a little more literacy and a little more comfort when you're doing the literacy."

All things aside, it was clear that Campbell-Bentley is looking forward to getting back to work.

"I love the little Grade 1's coming in (saying) 'I'm in Grade 1!' and so very excited about that," she gushed. "Even our Grade 6's are excited about being back and the looks on our parents' faces are equally excited."
